Handmade and Hand Finshed Picture Frames - Traditional and Contemporary

Handcrafted, handmade, modern and traditional. Any finish from gesso and paints to gilts and gold leaf - the traditional english frame.

Wildwood Gallery is dedicated to offering one of the finest ranges of traditional and contemporary bespoke handmade picture frames in the country. Our frames are made by a team of Craftsmen here in East Anglia who have been lovingly producing hand made bespoke picture frames for nearly forty years.

Original 18th century hand carved box moulds are used for the decoration which is applied to primed wood moulding. The frames are then carved and pierced by hand before colour finishes are achieved by a series of individual processes, with many layers of hand stippling in the multiple colours required for each finish. This is followed by gentle burnishing with an agate stone, finally being sealed with a delicate application wax. Our selection includes modern and contemporary styles as well as  ornate and authentic period designs including Victorian, Regency, Neo Classical, Art Deco, Nouveau and Swept Frames. All the wood used in our frames is sourced from strictly monitored sustainable forests.

Our selection includes gold leaf, silver leaf and swept frame styles. Every bespoke handmade picture frame is created by allowing for both colour & design to be tailored to meet your individual requirements. Any of our frames can be produced in any size and our colours are endless from white to black and everything inbetween. Gold and Silver Leaf, choice of carat, full coverage, or bands with any colour. The choice is endless.

Competitively priced without compromising on quality, we offer a complete picture framing service for Galleries, Artists, Framers, Publishers, Museums and Interior Designers. Whether you are looking for a single frame for a painting, photo or print, or require multiple frames, Wildwood Gallery can accommodate your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is your lead time?

Everything we do is made to order so that you can have exactly the frame style, colour and size that you want.  This takes time, and we average a 3-4 weeks’ lead time due to the vital drying period needed between each process but sometime the process could take up to 6 weeks.  The average frame finish incorporates six different colour processes which all require the correct curing time in order to assure the quality of the end result. We will always do our best to keep you informed.

2.  What size can you make to?

We can make frames to any size, no matter how large or small. We specialise in over-sized frames; we are only restricted by the double doors in our dispatch room!

3.  What finishes are available?

We can finish our frames to any gilt, colour or leaf. You can choose from our range or even specify a paint brand and tone of emulsion or we can supply in gesso only.

4.  Will my frame be exactly like the sample chevron or photo in your brochure/website?

As each frame is handcrafted, there will always be a slight variation in finish.  The individuality of each frame is a unique selling point as no two frames are ever identical.  So samples and images should be used as a guide only.  All our staff are trained to a very high standard and therefore the finishes are leeway consistent. It is also worth bearing in mind that the same finish can look different on two different frames designs.

5.  Do you have a minimum order?

No, we are equally happy to make one-off frames and volume orders. Please ask for full details.
