Louise Davies -
Printmaker and Painter
Louise Davies is a painter
and printmaker and was brought up in the South West of England, mainly living in
Bath.
Her work is based on the landscape and living as a child in such
a beautiful city this no doubt had an influence on her subject matter.
She was introduced to Printmaking at the age of 16
when she moved school to Plymouth
College where she began studying etchings in their highly sophisticated Art Department
at that time. She applied to
St Martins and was accepted straightaway on the Fine Art Course. Hence
her visit to the big city where she has stayed ever since!
Later, in between having her three daughters, she
went to Camberwell and studies M.A. Printmaking.
She
became a member of Greenwich Printmakers in 1997 and was one of the
founder members of the Southbank Printmakers (both successful artist run
galleries in London).
Her work is inspired by places she visits on
holidays or local views in Blackheath and Greenwich where she lives and works. She has a strong sense of colour and with her
distinctive line drawing balances the work between abstract and
figurative.
She exhibits regularly in
galleries in London and throughout England. |
